A year after the end of the Second World War, Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov headed the design bureau in Novosibirsk. Then, in 1946-1948 he worked at the Siberian Research Institute of Aviation as the head of the institute (as a second job). He created the institute team and directed its work at the initial stage of the SibNIA organization on the basis of the TsAGI branch, supervised the development of the Institute design task in 1947. The energy and efficiency of Antonov allowed him to cope with all matters, and the firstborn of the new design bureau, the famous civil aircraft of the Soviet aviation An-2 first sailed up into the clouds on August 31, 1947.
This plane is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the only aircraft in the world that has been produced for more than 60 years.
