Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute named after S. A. Chaplygin» — LARGEST RESEARCH CENTER OF AVIATION SCIENCE IN EASTERN RUSSIA
Being established in August, 1941 by the decision of the State Defense Committee (GKO), the Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute Named After S.A. Chaplygin (SibNIA) even in our days remains the largest testing base for the Aeronautical and Aerospace Industry of the Eastern part of Russia.
Laboratories of this Institute developed arrangements for such milestone aircrafts as An-2, A-57, Su-26, and Su-27, performed structural and fatigue tests of over two hundred types of various aircrafts including Tu-144 the supersonic airliner, Buran the aircraft-spacecraft, Tu-204, and Su-27 aircraft family; the laboratories tested over two hundred of national aircrafts alighting gears, contributed in new life provision to such aircrafts of the Great Patriotic War as I-153, I-16, and MiG-3 reconstructed by enthusiasts.
Today, the Institute’s activities include tests of SSJ-100, T-50, and MC-21 aircrafts, creation of specific flying test beds, design of Il-476 aircraft components, flight researches of navigation and landing aids for aerodromes, as well as tests of Il-2, the legendary reconstructed attack-plane.
In conditions of the personnel deficiency and intensive technological renovation, the Institute has been developing dynamically and remains the reliable partner for many aeronautical and aerospace companies both in Russia and abroad.
